The bullettin of the International Union of Soil Sciences is an insight on the activities carried out by the President, the Secretariat and the Divisions in the first six months of 2023. Soil plays a pivotal role for mankind and the environment and its link with the survival of the planet is indubitable. To raise awareness, IUSS has proclaimed the International Decade of Soils (2015-2024), an event that will come to an end at the same date the Centennial is celebrated. The event will take place in Florence, May 19, 2024, when the international Congress will be held together with an array of technical/scientific jaunts.
IUSS, International Union of Soil Sciences is the world soil scientists union, for the promotion and support of soil scientists worldwide.
The IUSS Secretariat, headed by Giuseppe Corti, Director of the Centre of Agriculture and Environment and Filiberto Altobelli, First Researcher at the centre of Agricultural Policies and Bioeconomy, since January 2023 carries out its activities within the frame of CREA (Council for Agricultural Research and Economics).
