The laboratory deals with the development of fast methods of analysis with optical techniques, especially in the infrared range, on dairy products, fodders, plant products, soils and wastewaters. It is equipped with FT-NIR and FT-MIR spectrometers configured for solid and liquid analysis, portable NIR systems, a Raman spectrometer and a hyperspectral scanner (400-1000 nm). It is also provided with a Foss FT-IR Milkoskan FT2 system for the analysis of milk and dairy matrices and a laser granulometer for the dimensional analysis of particles in liquid suspension. A recently acquired energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer for the mineral elements analysis is also present. The laboratory is also equipped for the assembly and development of optical sensors based on Arduino microcontrollers and for 3D printing of the supports.
