INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CITRUS GENOME, March 28th 2023
CREA of Acireale hosts some of the most important international experts of citrus genomics in the framework of the European project preHLB.

Albert Wu from the Joint Genome Institute (California), Manuel Talon from the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agraria (Spain), and Fred Gmitter from the University of Florida, are the three international speakers who will participate to the International Workshop on Citrus Genome on March 28th 2023. They will illustrate the main works of which they are authors, published in the most prestigious International journals, including Nature Biotechnology. Italy will also be present with Mario Di Guardo of the University of Catania and Concetta Licciardello Senior Researcher at CREA in Acireale, organizer of the event and scientific coordinator of the preHLB project for CREA.
Colleagues will entertain the auditorium with presentations concerning the evolutive history of mandarins, the domestication of citrus fruits, and the activities carried out by the University of Catania in relation to the latest advances in citrus genomics. They will also talk about Huanglongbing, from the use of omics science and the search of solutions for this terrible disease that is devastating the citrus growing in the world, to the study of the sources of resistance through the sequencing of one of the most interesting species , such as Eremocitrus glauca.
