Biogas Biology Laboratory (Modena)

Tests to evaluate the suitability of different substrates, alone or in co-digestion with livestock manure, for the production of biogas (hydrogen and methane); optimization tests of the process conditions (in particular, with different inocula).

The laboratory uses:

two chambers for anaerobic incubation, a gas chromatograph with thermal conductivity detector for the analysis of the gas composition;
an HPLC, a UV-VIS spectrophotometer, and a GC with FID detector for the analysis of metabolites, in addition to basic equipment for microbiological research (epifluorescence optical microscope, autoclave, centrifuges, thermostats).
