Microbial analysis of rumen environment through traditional, molecular techniques. Characterization of rumen microbiome. Analysis The laboratory also investigates microbial consortia involved in the fermentation’ processes for biogas production (hydrogen and methane) from agro-zootechnical wastes.

The Lab is equipped for microbiology and molecular biology analysis: Autoclave, fridge, freezer, stove, microscopy, PCR (Applied 2700), e PCR real-time (iCycler, Biorad), anaerobic chamber, Biohazard cabinet, DGGE and DGGE software (BioNUMERICS), fluorimeter (Quantity one, Biorad) for DNA quantification, automatic DNA extractor (Maxwell® 16, Promega), AMPTS for automatic biomethane potential determination, fermentor (Dolly), freeze-dryer machine, GelDoc (Biorad) for gel imaging.
