Genetics, genomics, transcriptomics labs (Monterotondo)

In this laboratory advanced technologies (“OMICS”) are used to characterize animal genetic resources identifying genes / alleles / transcripts that underpinning qualitative characteristics of animal products, disease resistance and animal welfare, to develop a sustainable and efficient animal husbandry. The laboratory is equipped with: 4 thermal cyclers to amplify by PCR DNA /cDNA (GeneAmp® System 2720, GeneAmp® System 9700, MWG, BIOMETRA); an 8 capillary automatic DNA sequencer (Genetic Analyzer ABI3500); 4 agarose gel electrophoresis apparatus (Major Science) and one transilluminator (Genenco) to visualize nucleic acid after extraction and PCR products (DNA/RNA); GelDoc (Biorad) to acquire gel images: nanophotometer Pearl (Implen) to spectrophotometric control of nucleic acids using microvolumes; Bioanalyzer (Agilent) to microfluidic analysis of DNA/RNA/proteins; a system for quantitative amplification of nucleic acid (qRT-PCR) (qPCR StepOne Plus Applied); instruments for proteomic (isoelectrofocusing systems, one-two dimension electrophoresis apparatus, Western blotting, chemioluminescent images acquisition).
