Biologia molecolare per le specie arboree forestali - Arezzo
Biologia molecolare per le specie arboree forestali - Arezzo
The laboratory performs research activities focused on evaluating forest tree species’ genetic structure with the use of molecular markers such as SSRs, AFLPs, SNPs. With the aim of determining genetic variability, genic flux and adaptability of species of interest: A. nebrodensis, P. menziesii, P. pinea, P. nigra, B. pendula, Q. suber, F. sylvatica, A. alba. In the laboratory it is possible to study:
- Functional markers in order to give support to genomic selection and breeding programs
- NGS technologies of genome editing and genomic transformation.
- Traceability and certification analyses on several starting materials thanks to advanced protocols of DNA extraction on tough matrices like aged wood samples, wood microcores and seeds
The laboratory is equipped as follows:
- Tissue Lyzer II QIAGEN mixing mill for disruption of plant and woody samples
- Refrigerated Centrifuge for microvials
- Refrigerated Centrifuge for vials and plates
- Precision balances
- Eppendorf Biophotometer for proteins and nucleic acids quantification
- Eppendorf Biospcrtometer with fluorescence for quantification and qualitative evaluation of proteins and nucleic acids
- NanoDROP for quantification and qualitative evaluation of microvolumes of nucleic acids
- Qubit portable instrument for fluorimetric evaluation of nucleic acids microvolumes
- Biorad DNA engine Thermocyler for PCR
- Miniamp Thermocycler for PCR
- SeqStudio genetic Analyzer capillary sequencer
- Quant studio 3d Digital qPCR
- iBright FL1500 imaging system
