CREA - Research Centre for Food and Nutrition participates in the 12th National Food Waste Prevention Day
On February 5th, after a recreational-educational laboratory, three fourth grade classes of a primary school in Rome will compete in a fight against waste, in an activity that takes place within the CREA-FAN-ECO project, of the Programme ONFOODS.

CREA - Research Centre for Food and Nutrition joins the "day to fight waste" with an initiative that takes place within the CREA-FAN-ECO project of the ONFOODS Programme. On this occasion, on February 5, the Project working group will carry out a playful educational laboratory with three classes from the IC Via delle Azzorre in Rome, that will compete in a fight against food waste in the canteen at lunch. Pupils will have to weigh the waste (if any) of the green bean side dish from their class's menu of the day and - thanks to what they learned in class that morning - they will be able to calculate how much waste of water the food they didn't eat equates to. They will also be able to determine how much this waste of water corresponds to in terms of minutes of running the tap. They will thus learn the concept of the WATER FOOTPRINT of food, and in the meantime they will become aware of the problem of food waste in school canteens.
