Phenotyping Wilting: a Low-Cost Method for monitoring wheat Leaves under Heat Stress using semi-automated image analysis
The manuscript “A Low-Cost Method for Phenotyping Wilting and Recovery of Wheat Leaves under Heat Stress Using Semi-Automated Image Analysis”, published on Plants, shows a low-cost, semi-automated method to quantify leaf folding of wilting plants that can replace visual analysis.

Leaf wilting is the most common symptom of dehydration stress. The research team, comprised of Portici University (Naples, Italy) and the Council of Agricultural Research and Economics – Research Centre of Cereal and Industrial Crops (Foggia, Italy), reveals a method to analyze wheat wilting in order to evaluate crop agronomic performance, to genetically dissect out the wilting process, and for functional analysis of genetically modified plants.
