Tall plants get less sick of Fusarium. From a recent study on the wheat germoplasm important news on the tollerance to Fusarium
Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most damaging diseases of cereal crops. The collaboration between CREA-Cereals and Industrial Crops, CREA- Olive, Fruit and Citrus Crops, Valagro S.p.A, University of Catania and CIMMYT (Mexico), in the frame of the projects “Durum Wheat breeding Program" and "Fusarium Research Program", led to the recent pubblication on the scientific journal Plants of the paper “Screening of Durum Wheat [Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum(Desf.) Husn.] Italian Cultivars for Susceptibility to Fusarium Head Blight Incited by Fusarium graminearum”.

The manuscript explains how a strong correlation between FHB susceptibility and some phenotypic and phenological features was found by the screening of several cultivars in three locations (North and Soth Italy and Mexico).
