"Forest kindergarten” Project

Description

What is this

The project is based on an agreement, carried out under art. 15 of the law n. 241/1990, signed in 2018 between Municipio XIII Roma Aurelio and CREA, lasting five years, for the experimental collaboration in environmental education activities with the "Luna Sapiente"  preprimary-school in Rome, Casalotti district. 

The project includes outdoor educational activities, on some days of the week throughout the year, of kindergarten classes at the "Ovile"  experimental farm of CREA. In a peri-urban context, in contact with nature and trees, children have the opportunity to follow an educational path based on the principles of outdoor education and, in particular, on the educational criteria of forest kindergartens.  

The children are followed by skilled school teachers, environmental educators and CREA staff to support the activities. 

Collaborations are underway with the University of Roma Tre and with other kindergartens to study the experience from a pedagogical point of view.
