Disease and pest management of fast-growing wood plantations– Casale Monferrato (AL)
Disease and pest management of fast-growing wood plantations– Casale Monferrato (AL)
The laboratory has been established to investigate the biology of the main pest and pathogens of poplars, willows and other fast-growing woody species in order to identify the most effective defence strategies and those with the lowest environmental impact. Investigations are focused on the development of early tests to evaluate the susceptibility of new clones and suitable control strategies versus the main pests and diseases. The main activities are:
- culturing, characterisation and storage of fungal and bacterial pathogen colonies under standard lab conditions;
- sampling, classification and multiplication of insect pests in lab conditions.
The lab is equipped with a transmission microscope, a stereoscope, two laminar flow hoods (one with vertical flow and one with orizontal flow) and some thermostatic cabinets.
