Wildlife management and forest biodiversity - Rende
Wildlife management and forest biodiversity - Rende
The activities concern the study of macro-, meso- and microfauna sampled in forest ecosystems aiming primarily to the identification of species and the estimation of their populations. This study allows the planning of optimal faunistic management for forest ecosystem functioning, as well as the monitoring of biodiversity using insects in general and Lepidoptera in particular as bioindicators. Furthermore, the population dynamics and biology of defoliator Lepidoptera are studied under laboratory conditions.
In the laboratory a scientific collection of Lepidoptera is conserved, studied and constantly expanded.
