In Arezzo, the activities of the Forest Genetic Resources are exerted in the following laboratories:  

  • xylogenesis and other adaptive traits; 
  • Micropropagation; 
  • Biotechnology. 

Additionally, two greenhouses and two growth chambers are available.  

The research carried out by these laboratories are focused on analyzing and valorizing the forest genetic resources, by monitoring and developing actions for conservation and adaptive management both in situ and ex situ.  

The researchers are involved in national and international institution, including: the National Observatory of Poplar, the National and Regional registers of Forest Reproductive Materials, FAO Silva Mediterranea, IUFRO and Euforgen.
