ECPGR is a European plant genetic resources programme launched in 1980 thanks to the intervention of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Genebank Committee of the European Association for Research on Plant Breeding (EUCARPIA). The aim of the program is to facilitate, on a collaborative basis, the long-term conservation, documentation, exchange and utilisation of plant genetic resources. Dr. Giovannini is Chair of Prunus WG, Dr. Bergamaschi and Dr. Baruzzi are respectively members of Malus/Pyrus WG and Berry WG.
