Metabolomics laboratory
Metabolomics laboratory
The Metabolomics laboratory is situated in Foggia, but available to the entire Center for studies on the primary and secondary metabolites of cereal and industrial crops to understanding of complex biological systems.
In the Metabolomics laboratory of Foggia there are several equipment based on mass spectrometry (MS) combined with separation techniques, typically gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (LC). In particular, there are a GC-MS, a GC-MS/MS (triple quadrupole) and a GC-QToF systems for the analysis of primary metabolites and volatile compounds (VOCs) while for the analysis of secondary metabolites there are an HPLC-DAD and an LC-QToF systems. It is also possible to analyze minerals, both micro and macro-elements, using the ICP-MS system.
In the laboratory there are also instruments dedicated to the correct samples preparation such as a freeze dryer, a planetary mill with jars of inert material, an automatic extractor, a microwave mineralizer, a centrifugal concentrator and several thermomixer systems.
